Eigentlich hatte ich nicht zwingend eine riesige Aufzählung im Sinn,sondern dachte an BESONDERS gut gemachte Cover.

Life of Agony - Don't You (Forget About Me) ist auf jeden Fall besser als das Original! Und Pranoid von Type O Negative ist nicht unbedingt besser, aber ganz interessant neu interpretiert. Dark Tranquillity - 22 Acacia Avenue ist auch ein super cover. Außerdem find ich die Covers von Dark Age Hells Bells, For Whom the Bell Tolls und The Unvorgiven sehr gelungen.
Zuletzt noch mal ein cover von Death Evil Dead und umgekeht Painkiller eingespielt von Death.

interessant ist das Cover insofern, dass das Intro von Nirvanas "Come as you are" verdammt viele Noten mit KJs Eighties gemeinsam hatte, was ja damals auch mächtig Zoff gab...
noch interessanter dass Grohl ja später das 2003er Album von KJ eingespielt hat (ich hasse ihn dafür, denn eigentlich hätte auch Danny Carey (Tool) und John Dolmayan (System of a Dawn) mitspielen sollen, aber der Grohl wollte alles... hmmpf)

Fear Factory mit Millenium (von Killing Joke) ist auch keine Sensation sondern eher fad, dafür finde ich

Ich empfehle mal aus Gründen er Originalität Hayseed Dixie und Richard Cheese. Die haben beide tonnenweise recht spezielle Coverversionen von allem möglichen gemacht.

Wenn es auch mal etwas moderner sein darf...ich mag das ARCHITECTS-Cover des STAMPIN' GROUND-Klassikers "Officer Down" überragend.

Ich bin gerade hier rüber gestolpert und musste das sofort posten, weil's ein Top-Titel meiner Lieblings-Thrasher aus 1980er ist

A Perfect Circle - Imagine finde ich genial, weil der Song nicht einfach nur im eigenen Stil der Band wiedergegeben, sondern von der Stimmung her wirklich neu interpretiert wird.

Außer Konkurrenz läuft eigentlich alles von Me First and the Gimme Gimmes sowie Richard Cheese.

Grundsätzlich muss ich aber auch dazu sagen, dass ich eine Coverversion nur dann gut finden kann, wenn sie

a) das Original komplett neu interpretiert (völlig andere Musikrichtung)

oder

b) in seiner Umsetzung besser als das Original ist. (bei vergleichbarer Musikrichtung)

Mein obiges Beispiel würde z.B. unter "b" fallen.

Wie wärs da mit der neuen von Milking the Goatmachine?

Sehr gewagt die Auswahl, aber durchaus sehr schön gecovert. Am besten gefallen mir da "Ma Baker", "Rebell Yell" und überraschender Weise "Major Tom".

Wenn man was mit MTGMs groovigem Core anfangen kann, dann sollte man sich das gute Stück definitiv mal geben. Grad auch im Bezug auf die Coversongs!
