bitte, hast du probleme mit 970 und cd-r disc?

I was at the store today and hd 970 was skipping like every 3rd song. I make copy of all my discs so its very important to me. Also i listened to arcam 73 (AB comparation with same disc , original and copy, in both cd players), and is pretty good compared to arcam. more about sound later, i am at work now.

please help

Did I get your question right? You've got problems with the HD 970 when playing CD-R's ? It skips every 3rd song, or what ?
I do not understand your question completely. Please describe your it more in detail.

Greetings,
Chris

You got it right. I was at the Local store and I auditioned HK 970 cd player. With all my cdr disks hk is skipping. It plays song and then suddenly stops for a second. It happens on almost every third song, maybe once or twice in one song.

I also listened to arcam cd73 and its very like hd 970, but with more wormth, and more cleaner. Very similar, but I like it more, it gets you more into the music. also no skipping. I think I will also consider marantz 7001.
(setup was arcam a70, hk amp 970, sonus faber concertino domus)
best regards

ps two people contacted me and says that they have hd970 and no problems with cdr. also few people told me that harman kardon 7xx is having skipping problem, or not reading some cdr at all.

A related problem has been posted here not long ago. Some users have this problem with mp3's and other users's say, it's maybe due to different blank CD. Some blank CDs work, some not. So it is with my player. Some older blank CDs don't want to play, but others do.
The HD970 seems to be very susceptible with burning speed and CD material.

Hello again!

Today I tried burning an CD-RW with MP3s. 3 folders wih about 20 tracks in each, Verbatim CD-RW (5 years old!).

The first time I used the program K3B (Linux), Yamaha-CRW-F1, speed: 4x
Result: nearly every 15 seconds a song stopped for a short time. (as you wrote in this topic)

I erased the CD-RW and tried again. This time with my notebook, Nero 6, Toshiba drive, speed: 10x
Result: NO PROBLEMS!!!

You see, there are some more factors: cd quality, burn speed, maybe even the used drive or burning method!
I think the HD970 maybe a bit pettish in this discipline, but you can't say it cannot handle right with mp3-cds.
