Quadral Ascent 660 / 860

die Ascent 860 kann lauter spielen als die 660. Der Bass ist nur ein wenig tiefer.
Ich höre auch viel klassische Musik und würde empfehlen, den Bass durch einen
Subwoofer zu ergänzen.

So, you would recommend the 660's with a subwoofer rather than the 860? That would mean that I start with the 660's now, spend some time convincing my girlfriend that we need a subwoofer, and then hopefully get the subwoofer in the future

Alternatively, the Platinum 620 seems the 'cousin' of the Ascent 660. But being in a bigger box, and having bigger speakers, is it anything like the Ascent 660 but with more bass? Or do you loose the precision of the Ascent 660?

Im neuen Quadral Katalog ist die 860 nicht mehr enthalten. Der Unterschied zwischen
860 und 660 ist eher klein. Ein kompakter Sub wäre eine gute Ergänzung. Der Sub 400-DV
passt prima dazu.

Platinum 620 und Ascent 660/860 sind sehr unterschiedlich. Das kann man schlecht vergleichen.
Die Platinum hat auf jeden Fall mehr Bass als die Ascent. Du solltest die Platinum vorher
unbedingt anhören.

Thank you; I'll be sure to shield this discussion from my girlfriend... Just to make up for it: I'd get rid of all my audio for her :-) Reminds me of an old Linn commercial, with a picture of a very nice looking girl and something along the lines of 'she is pretty, drives a nice car, washes the dishes and knows how to cook; but her sister has a Linn and she's the one I married'...

Edit: I couldn't resist, so I looked it up in Google. Apparently, it's from 1993, and the full text is: 'She's terrific in bed. She's witty, intelligent and makes her own pasta. She doesn't have a Linn hi-fi. But her sister does, and she's the one I married.' I'll shut up now...

OK, I'll try to find a store that has the Platinum and the Ascent, maybe in Germany. The difference in price is (at least for the Ascent) quite a lot.
