Hi

Is there any speakers with built-in DAC and amplifier so that I can connect any mediocre cd/dvd player via coaxial/optical output?

I know only one fro B&O...

I didn't know of even that one..lol.

Never have heard such a concept to be honesst..
wonder if the otehrs can shed more light on this.

Why do you want the poor CDP/DVDP to be seperated, put that inside the box also....and yes, we may also need an in built refregerator to keep our Beer cans cold...

good ole bose has a pair called video mates. they look like car batteries, heavy. built in amplifier. you can connect your discman's lineout to them directly. i use that currently. dont know how this would work with a cd/ dvd player. a first hand pair is damn expensive 24 k. i got mine dirt cheap second hand.

Me thinks you are refering to Active Speakers...

vpriyan's call seems to be for Active Speakers + A Built In DAC !

His ambition is to

connect any mediocre cd/dvd player via coaxial/optical output.

Hence I guess the SOTA ( Sate of The Art ) speakers like wehat Bhagwan has mentioned are a 'slight' mis-match ?

Incidentally, Bhagwan has / had some interesting Tannoy Active monitors for sale... check the Buy Sell section on this forum...

Meredian DSP speakers as mentioned above
JM lab actives (studio monotors) i think it is the SM8 to SM 11.

both very very expensive

There are many such products in the world,especially in the studio monitoring field,including JBL,Genelec etc etc.Though the credit for the first digital active speaker as the concept is called,goes to Meridian Audio in 1992 I think.

However, by Tannoy Ellipse 8's are only the Active Studio Monitors, they are not the Ellipse8iDP. That is the digital active speaker. They are a bit more expensive.

Yes, 'deaf' is correct, Meridian was the first to get the digital active speakers. Now most studio monitor manufacturer make their monitors digital & active. Board out to monitor in. Simple & Straight.

Not sold in India. Sad. Had requested Dominic Baker to appoint some one, but they are not so sure if India is ready for the JM Labs.

Sound of Music was the distributor until a year back - that too only for the Home Audio section, but they too have been dropped.

Now, Mr. Kamal Dhingreja - Preeti Trading - does the car audio part of Focal's business in India.
