Hi Arjun !

Congratualtions !

Now you will enjoy real stereophonic sound (rarely music, mostly noise) And you will love noise more than music - that's called psychoacoutics !

Do post pictures of your family on Flickr.

Hi Arj,

CONGRATS !

Doc has put it VERY Nicely, how your love for music and noise will now dove-tail...

However, since this is your 2nd child, youve been through the noise = music... probably more intensely, the fist time.

CHEERS !

hey thanks a lot folks ! and you are right..my latest "musical system" sounds harsh and forward to others but it is pretty sweet to me.. I guess to each his own

Prithvi would love to drop in and go over some new acquisitions on audio (of the CD and the Hardware kind) on your setup(s)

Has anyone from the Forum gone to attend the Times AV Show in Bangalore ?

Will some one try and put up a report.
With pictures would be appreciated.

At least sitting here we get an idea of what happened ?

Was the show a success ? Many participants ?
Lots of visitors ? Press coverage and other details ?
New products on display ?

Please..............

I could spend only around 30-45 mins, but it was really very crowded in spite of an entry fee.

If the idea was to get a larger population aware of what Hifi audio was and that it exists, I think it did succeed. It was interesting ovehearing novice level but yet intelligent conversations on cables etc.

If it was to provide any further education to existing audiophiles then i can be considered a failure....but i doubt if that ever was the objective.

I for sure had a great time and awareness that anthony gallo, polk, Mirag,e energy etc were quite active and decently priced in India was an eye opener.

I thought the REL subs were not so attarctive to buy..but again not so highly put as to be called overpriced

the most popular stall appeared to be of the "Tweak" shop whic was selling cable sheaths to keep the cabling neat. Wish I had bought a couple of those

The JBL/HK stall was very interesting. it had a beautifully finished Infinity HT system with rectangular woofers..

Anyone has any idea of what they were ? seems to be some sort of a Piezo/Ribbon driver..although how those can produce bass I hve no idea. perhaps inspired by the maggies and further added on to by INfinity ??

I know that in Mumbai, they are also available at the Electronics componets market - Lamington Road.

Check out your local market... should be available, and a pretty discount too...

Congrats Arj Buddy.......so you are having a great time here in India. Now that you are here, lets try to meet up

Regarding the "Tweak" shop, even I was impressed by the simple but effective solution they were offering for to keep your wiring clean but somehow I found it to be unreasonably overpriced ...As if they have assumed whoever has a hifi has a lot of money to throw....

While bunching may find favour with the Missus....

Audio Gurus often recommend against it...

well there can always be 2 different bunches
1. For all Amp power lines
2. For preamp/Source Power inputs

3. For ICs..if there are too many of them..but if you use short ones (.6-1m) like I do it should be ok

of course speaker cables have to be really far away and any crossing omly at 90deg with power cables..

But I ws only thinking abou my HT here...all those cables from the HT receiver to the bose accoustimass module can make things very very messy especially for people with very very curious kids... the last time my son pulled a cable out it took me ages to trouble shoot..in the end i just dismantled &rewired

of course touching the stereo is out of qestion..enough territory marking has occurred..

Thw show was apparanetly a big commercial success.....so it does not matter whether the crowd in this form liked the show or not

This is a sign of trend to follow...more focus on lifestyle than hi-end equipment.

Right now...we are the minority. Hopefully there will be a turnaround in the near future

Regards
Siva.

Sir, I would love to 'keep the faith' in what you have to sey - wish for !!!
However, it is like trying to have a pissing competation against Niagra Falls.
No scope.

This world of ours is filled with 'rich' guys that want to buy gear that 'looks' good and not 'sounds' good / right.

So we shall have to make do with what ever we get !!!

The highlight of the trip for me was my meet with Siva.I heard the speaker he has made using the Scan drivers, his pre and transport, along with the plinius power amp and remiyo Dac.The sound was one that not everybody can get used too, but then Siva is not everybody. His singular effort towards non mechanical sound reproduction, devoid of audiophile pyrotechniques, shows a maturity in thought process I have rarely encountered in Indian audio circles.
The loudspeaker was exceptionally good, but as I said, one needs to be in the audio game for many moons to appreciate what it truly does.We had dinner at his place, some cracker food, that his polite and articulate wife arranged for us.
We had fantastic conversations with regards to audio idealogies and thought processes, and I was extremely glad to meet someone who shared the same wavelength as me on this subject.
Thank you Siva for a great evening, I hope you come to Mumbai soon, we can repeat this exercise at my place.

Anyone you know has a pair installed ? Demo / Audition possible ? It would make for interesting hearing. 'Deaf' spoke very highly of it.

Manek is right...this is not a regular production model.

Though the drivers are in stock, the speaker itself is made - only against order. We've sold two pairs of these so far....but both are in B'lore.

Bhagwan, When you come to B'lore .... you are most welcome to my home...and listen to the speakers

Regards
Siva.

Thank you sir;
That I would love to do.
'Deaf' recommended it so highly, that an audition is surely in order.
I will call on you when ever I am to visit Bangalore.
