i recently listened to some cadence speakers. avita was very good. anina was just alike maybe a bit better. arista was really good stuff but it didnt impress me like a dynaudio evidence for example. they were powered by this canasya monoblock amp, looks good, sounds very good. maybe i should take a deeper look on this one. |

sledge...you must give them a chance to grow on you. Your ears are so used to the sound of the cones...the details on the electrostat take some time to register but when your ears get used to it...man..its sheer joy ......it happened to me...now I dont want to listen to the dynaudio C2's or any other dynamic speaker driver's. Take that deeper look sledge...I did and now I'm hooked. |

harish....you are right...Arita's are excellent and in my opinion they are better then the monitor audio. I just love the tone of voice of these babies. I have heard them connected to the cadence valve amp...simply delicious. heard them connected to jeff rowland and theta...mind blowing.. |

additionally, how about nad 320bee.since the speakers are rated at 86db sensitivity, will any of the amps mentioned do them justice? thanx again. |

Hey! You should take a look at the NAD preamp / poweramp sets, too! They are great! Or NAD silver line. I got the S-300 amp and that's a really great one! I love him! And he got enough power to play quite all speakers! |

woody, I play my Arita's via the Nad 320 BEE, I own one....and needless to say the amp dives the speakers effortlessly...no problems....actually its a very good match. Absolutely no issues.....I fully recommend it as It sounds great in my home. Woody...where do you put up ? Kimber is right....NAD has extremely good and neutral equipment.... |

woody, the Cables you would need with the arita's and the 320BEE would be either Van del hul or entry level transparent audio. I'm talking about entry level stuff for both interconnects and speaker wires. I have a transparent audio interconnect with Jamo OFC speaker cable(thick guage) and the combo sounds clear and melow. |

well manek,i'm in mangalore, india. i think the nad's a good idea. but the rotel ra o2 has been rated very highly ,too! i'm thinking of going for kimber cable 4PR entry level speaker cables.i'm not a great believer in expensive cables.(what say kimber-frank?,will the kimber make my set up sound good?).the 4PR are the first and some say best(value for money) kimber product to date. i listen to mainly fusion, light country and anything by mark knofler (ex dire straits). |

woddy....sure kimbers would be good enough but do buy some decent interconnects too...maybe the entry level kimbers there too ? To my mind good interconnects play a very important role but make sure you spend about 10% of your total hardware budget on cables...that should work :-) |

woody, my experience with rotel has not been good...they sound a bit grainy in the mids and highs to me....maybe my ears are sensitive to the frequencies the rotel is not too smooth in...they do Ok on power. With fusion, country and mark as your music benchmark, rotel would do decently though i would still recommend the nad320bee over the rotel...as the 320bee is super smooth for its price...packs a good punch on bass and has a high current rail to tackle demanding loads. The NAD 370 is even better but a bit more revealing. If you like soft amps then Arcam is also an option for you and cadence are national distributors for arcam in India so if you need arcam I can put you in touch with the cadence guys...I know a couple of them by now :-) But please buy good interconnects and cables..entry level kimbers on both counts would not be a bad idea. On an average spend 10-15% of your total hardware budget on cables. |

thanx, manek.i really appreciate the advice. its also good to find fellow arita owners. i've been searching the web hi and lo for them and you are the only one i've met! its sad that such a good speaker should be so less known. maybe the cadence guys should really bug the guys at what hi fi or hifi choice or hifinews etc to do a review on them.that would do wonders for the product.would love to know how they stand aginst international competition. by the way is the 100 watt rating actually true.my marantz is rated at 80w/ch and i find the speakers distorting at very high levels.maybe my reciever is the culprit. will the nad (with its 40w/ch output)will be able to drive the amp to its full potential.would you have any idea of the nad's current output(amperage)? |

hi woody... to answer your first question ....I have just created an e-group on Yahoo as a cadence owners forum, you are welcome to join...I'll send you an invite. if the cadence guys dont do it I will :-) Secondly...the distortion is mostly your amp. Power rating is 100 watts, no question about that. The marantz equipment may be rated at 80w/ch but that is peak power rating, what is the continuous power rating ? Secondly amps when played loud usually distort as their power supply runs out of steam. The nad 320BEE is rated at 50w/ch minimum continuous power at 4& 8 ohms and 110W, 160W, 210W, IHF Dynamic power into 8, 4 and 2 ohms, respectively. So its got a lot of juice in it. I know becuase I have it and do pump it up from time to time. The peak current capability is rated in the manual upto 50 amps. It also has an automatic voltage/current sensing rail which will feed it with required voltage or current depending on the speaker load so its quite intellegent too. if you are worried about the 320BEE(not the 320 which is 40w/ch, not sold any more) then there is always the 352 and 370 which are even more capable. |

This is a new thread . But an interesting one. I had the chance to listen to the cadence set up in Pune. Not bad. Not bad at all...but heres my take. The highs are tinny almost too bright mids are sort of muted , bass frequencies are ok. All in all a pleasing system that appeals to the initial ear. I dont know how they will stand up once you get used to the come hither midrange bloom that most set ups have. I couldnt discern a very deep soundstage. For me, an open detailed soundstage is extremely important. These speakers didnt do it for me. I forget the exact type..Anina? powered by the 20 watt tube amp. Let me know what you guys think |

Highs tinny ? you must be joking....!!!! Electrostats can never be tinny...there is no metal there to sound tinny. All Electrostats are made to shine in the mids, thats their inherent quality. My friend has a pair of them(avita)at home and they are just about delightfull in every way. Where did you hear them in PUNE ? At Oceanic ? The soundstage these speakers throw is amazing but not forward. Its starts from the plane of the speakers and extends way back. There probably was something in between the speakers to hinder it. Its probably the amp or the source. The 36 watter valve VA1.0 is what you should hear. Or hear them with good powerfull solid state electronics....you wont regret it. Interesting feedback though...no one I know has every said electristats sound tinny and the mids are muted. Anina's (all the Cadence electrostats)are big speakers which need atleast a 500 to 800 sq feet of listening area. |

Hello, I have Cadence Divas & Arita. Divas for 2 channel music as well as fronts for home theatre and Arita for centre channel. I have NAD C370 driving the main speakers and NAD 214 (bridged) driving the Arita. Before NAD 370 i had Marantz PM80 and HK 680. They were good Amps but NAD has a better synergy with Cadence. In my opinion, in India, Cadence scores much higher than other speakers at the same price point. |

Yes they are. I have been changing source and amplification and interconnects in the last 2 years. I am sure these speakers are going to be with me for much longer period of time unless and untill i have enough money to upgrade to their ESL and tube amp. I have auditioned Kipsch, B&W and Polk Audio. I found Cadence far superior to them at that price. |

You are right....I have also extensively auditioned a large number of speaker in the past and still do and nothing...believe me...nothing comes close to the cadence speakers in their price brackets. Most of the time cadence takes the pants of the speakers that are even more expensive, example..I would buy the diva's any day compared to the B&W 603's and 604's and the diva's are much cheaper. same goes with the arita's....they smack any bookshelf in the market today. It's been my dream to upgrade to their avit's with the tube amp as well......which I am pursuing with great vigour and will make it happen. People clamour for the foreign stuff when better stuff exists in the local market already. I feel sorry for them. |
