I am thinking about buying a new micro/mini system- I want something small, easy to move around that looks stylish and sounds great. (BTW, I know nothing about this hifi malarky...) I have seen a system by Nakamichi, the SS1 which seems ideal- wall mountable so it's out of the way, looks great etc., just worried that it might not sound like something that costs that much should. Style and practicality are important, but so is sound! Can anyone tell me what they are like, am I just paying for the name/style or does it really sound good? Suggestions for alternatives would be appreciated- I have also considered the Bose wave CD, and Denon DM-31, but the SS1 looks so good and is so small... Thanks, Tim |

Yeah, I've heard the SS1, but only in a large warehouse type retail outlet with other sounds and stuff going on elsewhere...and like I said, I know nothing about stereos! But I would assume a lot depends on placement of speakers, size of room, bass/treb settings etc. Anyway, I thought it sounded OK, just a bit tinny and distorted when it wasn't that loud...I thought the Denon sounded a bit bassier, but flatter and less defined with the high stuff. Would it sound much different in my house? Really I just want some reassurance that I'm not going to get laughed at in the pub when I tell someone who knows what they're doing that I spent £400 on a system that is regarded as a lemon. ![]() Any other suggestions for these trendy 'lifestyle' systems would be appreciated...I know Onkyo make something a bit like the SS1, but more expensive. Any others? Cheers, Tim [Beitrag von Tim_B am 20. Aug 2003, 22:36 bearbeitet] |

Hey! if you want a stylish set, bose might be good. But if you want to listen to really good music, better not buy it. I don't know the other sets but maybe someone else in here? Frank |
