Hello,

I have not heard that many speakers, but the best one I had the pleasure to audition, was the Dynaudio Contour S 3.4.

@ooo: maybe that's not the right place to find out, which canton or mission is best, better open a new thread for that.

Should I mention you used the same sentence 3 times during 7 sentences
"Wilson is better than that"

Did you audition any other thing than wilson? Or do you think wilson is best because it's wilson?

Someone telling such a thing cannot have heard "nearly all speakers".
Go to the next Dynaudio dealer and audition as much of the range as possible.

Hello Herbert,
ever heard such a monster? It must sound very impressive.

I don't think this is a regular speaker just a prototype?

The second image shows something for home use (if you own a castle or something like this), but where can one place these ALE speakers?

I dont like guns but I think sledgehammer is right, wilson audio grand slam is the best speaker.

Another perfect one is dynaudio's evidence master.

Wilson Audio is NOT the best speaker, it is the most expensive one. I listened to some different speakers of Wilson in Moscow and they sounded like "mrzcka".

Way too expensive for what they do ... but, hey, if price doesn't matter, I would go for those.

@kimber-frank
In B&W's Nautilus the drivers are assemmbled on the wrong side of the speaker housing.

@onion
ALE is building a range of drivers and horns, from which you can combine your personal speaker solution. I've never heard such a combination.

Maybe there i a diffrence in the listening approach?

No electrostat is able to provide the loudness of dynamic speakers like wilson, dynaudio, b&w or even horns...

But (and i have heard many of the best) no dynamic speaker is able to follow the details presented by a good electrostat in any way

You would be astonished what is really on your cds listening carefully to details and spüacial image.

The worst problem is the deep base and a perfect integration of the mostly active subwoofer and the electrostat panel. when this is made quite well they are nearly unbeatable (and i will exchange my 801 agains some german electrostats i know quite well).

Hi langharigerbombenleger!
So you think both systems have their pros.
And because electostats are more detailed you are going to buy some? Thats is, in my opinion, a very good decission! Of course one needs bass but if the subwoofer is well integrated.

Sombetzki is the name of the manufacturer i know personally.

He's got a website, but its more a 'we now have a website' website - so won't find useful information...

On the web there are some links and here and there even product descriptions and pictures.

What i'm talking of is the ESL 55...

well i worked with Genelec speakers in a studio once, and i thought the were pretty crap. No good for studio work nor for having them at home.
I myself prefer the Grand Utopia (tried them a week ago bzzz!)
However you might have to sell the kids before you can aford these!!

grand utopia....definately need to sell wife, kids, house, live in a trailer and buy the utopia's !!!

Seriously....they are good....but I recently heard the Audio Artistry Beethoven. I dare say they were really really good.

But I still have a preference for Cadence Hybrid Electrostats....compared to the above they are affordable and give out soft melow sound and detailing which is second to none.

Hi Manek, sledgehammer and the other regulars,

I seriously need some advice real fast as I have to pick up a system from abroad and time is running short. I am planning to buy a system for which I need some inputs. I have a good sized living room (35feet by 25feet)but the speaker positioning is becoming a problem. One of the speakers has a wall almost 12 feet behind and 2 feet on the side whilst the other speaker has only 2 feet space before the wall and the side wall is very far away. Will that make a big difference?
I am buying the Wadia 302 cd player
Krell 2250 power amp

What do you`ll feel about trhe setup? and my speaker problems? And which cables should I use? Please reply. Thanks.

speakers should be put on the symmetrical side of the room, equal distances from the back and side otherwise you will get uneven front and side sound reflections and your system will sound funny....

Wadia stuff is real good but the company is always under financial trouble....dont know why.

Krell is now a benchmark for tothers to follow so I guess not much bad can be said for them. Power packed it is. What will you use as a pre-amp ?

Totem forest is a good speaker. Make sure you dont drive them too hard with the krell otherwise your speaker will be toast.

You have to hear them all as a set to see if they gel well.

Cables you could either go for transparent audio(will burn a hole in the pocket but the equipment will too), Kimber or Van Den Hul.

Well I have been designing loudspeakers for years and have come up with a loudspeaker that incorporates both the left and right channels into one cabinet (crossfire imaging) want to know more and see a photo e-mail me at zealthaudioloudspeakers@hotmail.com these are the best I cant build any loudspeaker that can beat them.
