i'm in touch with this guy from delhi who would like ot sell this Pre-power amp by technics. i sorta liked the vintage look of it. icold not find any reviews on this partcular amplifier. sincei 'm plannin t drive my passive sub thru this it would not be much of a concern, but again do you think investing in amp, which was originally launched in 96 would be a good idea? investing 9500 for the above...pls consider the spare parts service part etal as well...thnx!

It is an 9 year old model. 9 years is not much for an amp. It should serve u fine for another 10 years easily.I am not familier with this particular amp but earlier models by technics were pretty good for the money. If it is in very good condition, spending 9k should be fine.

For driving a passive sub looks like a faint idea to me. Are you looking at adding this to your HT to power your sub then this is not the amp for it..you can do away with some class D amps.

9 yr old amp for your sub. you must be crazy.go and get a good active sub BTW i got a YAMAHA sub I'm biased now so dare anyone tell me that YAMAHA's are boring.Good bikes and good amps.

It actually depends on your budget. A good passive sub with a good class A/B amp will sound very nice but it may be an overkill for you depending on your budget.
Even VMPS-audio does not reccomend Class D with their passive subs.

ya i agree AB's are good but where will you find a good one with enough power to drive a sub with limited budget and this technic amp according to reviews is mite backward in LF dept and what you gonna do by plugging it to sub..now it looks more fainter to me..OK maybe someone recommends against class D but it's against their brand of subs but the general rule is class D for subs. You still want to drive your sub with a amp not keen on LF then there is no point in it. Like using AA Puccini to drive your sub. Will never ever wake the driver in your sub.

try it out for yourself.

hey guys, like always quite an insight. well, to begin with, i'm quite satisfied with my sub..not tht i wud not like a better one, but cant dispose it at this point in time...BTW it's a pandam sub..it has two 5 1/2 inch drivers..for left and right channel each..secondly i could also plugin my pulz (60+60) to subs and have the technics pump the mids...so wht i would now need to know is..whether i shd go in for another pulz amp for the said purpose or try my luck with technics, he is quoting 9500 for the amp and preamp.pulz is avaiable for the same price...

tempted to save money for the NADs...guys wht would be th best decision..?
