Hello people,
i have started work on the active crossover and have run into a roadblock.
I have procured most of the components,however, some components have been hard to find..
i was wondering if any of u guys(Inor,Rajesh) could help me regarding this..
for the Xover i am in need of some resistors and capacitors..nothing more..
i am in need of

0.25 watt 1% metal film 20kohm resistors =(30 nos)
1 micro farad (50Volt) bipolar electrolytic capacitors =(2nos)
should not cost more than 20 rupees..
If u guys could help me in this regard i would really appreciate it..

i can presently go on with the xover without these(I mean with values that are slightly deviant), but will be compromising the ideal response curve and plan to use them later..

HI sachi,
U are from Blore and u can easily get the stuff from SP road. lots of electronics shops like you can go to the industrials electronics and then ask them they will give excellent components but if they dont provide then you have texonics probably you can find them there...metal films .. u have to try....

what about the speaker enclosure did u design them?

let me see the pic of them? when will u start ur amp man?

Sachi, are you sure all resistors need to be 1% metal film. I am not sure if you can get these MFRs easily in SP/SJP road. There are specialist dealers who supply to the labs in Bangalore but they used to charge a huge premium. Or may be I have lost touch with latest developments in hardware.

If you can PM me the details of how to procure online, I can get them for you.

hey man..i tried in most of the places on SP road ...anyway..i'll try again..
those 20k resistors are hard to find...and the bipolar type of elecrolytic capacitors are not available(asked in most of the places and no luck)...

There is one place near the end of electronic shops in SP road I will send you the details by PM

Might be you can try , I used to buy the MFR's around 5-6 years back

MFRs should be easy to find from bigger shops like Texonic. Bipolar eletrolytic capacitors are a different story and I am not sure we get them in local market. One option is to order it from component suppliers like RS components and they may be able to supply from stock in bangalore, although you would pay much more due to the MOQ. Following are other alternatives -

1. Use two unipolar electrolytic capacitors of double the value in series connected back to back. This is almost as good as a bipolar cap.
2. Since the cap value required is low, 1uF, you could use ceramic chip surface mount capacitors (preferably X7R type dielectric) - these are better than electrolytic capacitors anyday (much lower series inductance and ESR, although slightly higher dielectric absorption) and would be readily available with SMD component suppliers in SP road.

thanks for the alternatives but i have a PCB and will have to drill holes to accomodate the extra electroytic cap...

have finished installing all the other components, save for the components that i am looking for..

I have conmtacted RS components and will be sending them a request for a quote. they seem very helpful..

i'll let u know regarding this once i get a quote from RS India....
If the price they quote is too high then maybe u can look around for me..

where is this RS india?

I need some components which are very rare please tell me how to get the rare components and i have tried some components at sp road but couldnt find.

Tried also but couldnt...

any suggestions..
