Hey guys,
today i had a huge shock when my bro declared that the DVD player was not working.
I was pretty worked up when i could not figure out what the problem was.
Mind you this was at 10.30 in the night.
i decided to open it up and have a look.
i checked the power supply module and finally put it down to the fuse.
the fuse had blown!
thanks to my multimeter i saved a lot of headache, not to mention money and possible flicking of parts if my dad had opted to go the service route.
the fuse was a 1A rating and since i did not have a immediate replaceent i removed a 5A rated fuse and tested to see if the fuse was indeed the only culprit.
Voila!
It lives again..

p.s: the master chip seems to be a National semiconductor chip..

well a multi meter.... only thing i know is using an ecg machine ....unfortunately it doesnt work on an audio system....

one more thing pal is ur native place hassan well i am from sakleshpur..........and i am missing them a lot...

hey benks, agree with you, simple eqpt can save a lot of headache and it takes hardly 10mins for anybody to learn to use it.

Needless to say, you tried finding out why the fuse had blown..? the fault might still be there and might blow again after you put back a 1A fuse?

Hey Ravi,
well i was not present when it happened and my dad said that he was just listening to music when all of a suden he heard a pop sound form the speakers and he saw that the DVDplayer was off.
guess it must have been a surge though none of the other equipment was harmed.
