HELP! urgent recommendations - stereo + home theatre kit

hi all,

a friend of mine wants a system. more of music listening. movies once/twice a week. was thinking of suggesting the wharfedale 9.1 for fronts and music and 9.0 for surrounds, center and subwoofer wharfedale too. what av receiver would go with this? total cost of package should be around 50k including receiver.

specific model names would be appreciated along with places/tel numbers to audition in bombay.

Marantz, Sonodyne in that order which ever you find affordable. Older models of Marantz viz SR4400/5400 can be had at around 22k (if available)....where as Sonodyne can be had for 17k (already available). Nothing beats these two in this price range to me.

Marantz is the best combo with wharfedales........try getting the marantz4400.....i think u might get it for 17-18k or even cheaper now as the prices for the latest 4600 is 22k......

any idea which dealer has the marantz in mumbai? was thinking of the marantz 4400 but dont know where to find it. sonodyne will recommend to him too for an audition.

I have Marantz AVR with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 (only 2 speakers as of now). It really is a great VFM combination. I have played the speakers for about 50 hours now in last 3 weeks and they are getting better, specially bass has improved quite a lot. Should reach 100 hours of break in within 3 weeks.

The Marantz - Diamond combo has a nice warm sound. Using a speaker cable like QED Silver Anniversary will help sparkle things up a bit. It also helps to biwire the Wharfies.
