I have bi-wired my setup with Audience Au24 speaker cables and i think they are really execellent.

but recently i realized that there is a much cheaper alternative

The Mogami 2804; this cable is generally not available to even the distributors. during my recent trip to singapore, i met someone who has 100 meters of this cable. He is asking for SGD.65/- per meter (import+duty cost to be added to this)

If there are sufficient number of people intrested...they we can buy this cable. I'm myself looking for 10 meters for my HT setup..

have heard about mogamis a lot.. excellent made in japan wire.

apparently many top cables when split open happen actually have mogamis inside

unfortunately am overwired hence would have definitely been on

Hi Siva !

Can you workout net cost for cables delivered to Delhi? I may consider upgrading my cables. I'd like to bi-wire my speakers and also lke to have Y-spades as terminations.

Dhawan,

The overheads would be 35%-37% as import duty...plus shipping cost, which can be another 30-50%.

to approximate ...just multiply the basic cost by a factor of 1.8; The shipping charges to Delhi will not be expensive i think..

Guys, I think Siva HAS given a Budgetary Estimate.

Assuming you require 4 meters ( about 12 feet ) PER Speaker Cable, you need 8 meters.

8 m x S $ 65 x Rs 28 per Sing $ x 1.8 = Rs 26,200 for a Pair of speaker cables.

Maybe you could trimn the expemse by odering 6 meters instead of 8 meters for the pair.

Note that the connectors ( bananas etc ) are Not Included...

I import so many things for my personal use...but i still have not learnt the magic formula to give anyone an exact figure. This is because

* adhoc duty rates charged on every import (it varies between 22-37%, depending on the customs official on duty),
* variying exchange rate
* and unknown shipping cost.

I'm NOT planning to sell anyone finished cables. These are raw cables that the buyers have to terminate. We simply buy these raw cables and split the cost.

Like Amp_Nut said, the numbers are budgetary and final figures can be worked out only when the items arrive...it could be more or it could be less.

For most of us a 2.5 mtr pair (requires 5 meters of wire) should be more than adequate. I do not recommend more than 2.5 mtrs, unless you really need it. It is better to keep speaker cables as short as possible.

However, when we are planning for ourselves we can go easy on a lot of things but when the plan include others we have to be more precise.

I don't know conversion rates of Sg$, import duties, etc. - that's why that question. And you are a commerical member so the question was rightly directed.
