Dear Satyam but more seriously, the Wadia is a good machine, and a reference too, for HIFI CHOICE magazine. It was featured in their STATEMENT products some time back,so you should get about 2lacs+ for it.

Hi !

I may tend to agree with 'deaf'

The Wadia 861 is a player that is used by many reviewers for their 'digital front end'. You see that company does not make anything else apart from cd player - hence, it is not 'voiced' for any particular sound'.

It plays back digital [cd's] the way 'they' [Wadia] interprets it. It is not 'harsh' at all - just precise - clean - clear [sans a bit emotion, maybe].

The Wadia 861 has been a dream machine for me - for a long long time. I have liked its pre decesor the 850 & 850x !

The 861 too is a 'reference' digital play back product - within its price parameter - 7K US retail.

How I wish I could have afforded the same !!!
Not to mention, there is no place for it in my humble set up. The entire chain has to be of the same calibur for it [861] to be understood & appreciated.

I do hope that some deserving person gets his [or her] hands on it. Built like a tank - will last for a long time.
