Hello... This is my first post... I'm Italian so I write here in english... (Sorry for errors if present ) I think i'm in the right place to explain my problem... I bought a 42lm640 model last year. Tv is fantastic but I've a problem with it with 3D and I think I'm in the right place for help... I saw recently Resident Evil Afterlife and Retribution in 3D but 3D effects are not the same like at cinema. I saw both movies at cinema. Afterlife in 3D in the cinema was amazing, rain, blood and bullet time effect (like matrix) was fantastic and it was there that i thinked to buy a 3D tv. When i saw again the movie at home 3d effect was very insufficent absolutely, no depth or very little... Why? I tell you these other thinks: 1. With full 16:9 3D movies is rare to have the same bad sensation that i see with cinema aspect raito movies because they fill all the screen and its amazing the 3d (Avatar is an example) 1. I have to say that i've never used official Lg 3d passive glasses that was present in the box with my tv and i use cinema glasses that i receve everytime i go to cinemas to see 3d movies (I think is the same but tell me if not) 2. The problem could be the configuration of the image? Color, balance, real cinema effect and local dimming configuration for example? I saw other settings in this page http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-145-5517.html. are they correct? Can you tell me if not what is the best configuration for 3d? 3. When in general i saw hsbs mkv (mkv in side by side) and i want to improve 3d effect in 3d setting if i change depth and point of view usually it happends that a subject in foreground change depth in the same scene more times (not always but it happens) and it is very annoying. Especially when i put depth at max and point of view to the minimum because i think that in this way what is at the front is more spaced with the rest... what do you think? So i leave always for all to standard setting that not seems the best for me 4. Could be the problem the distance from tv? I don't think so... But Tell me the best in your opinion... I repeat sorry for my english and thanks in advance for your help... All is started because thanks to internet i read everytime a lot of blueray 3d reviews and whan i compare what they say about quality of 3D in movies and my opinion after seeing them i don't agree with them... But could it possible that all are wrong? Mmm... Maybe not! Sorry for the long text.... Waiting for reply! |

Hi, and welcome. Nice to hear that this forum is also known in Italy As no one else has answered yet I´ll try to help you as far as I can. 1. Well, Avatar is a state of the art production regarding 3D effects and image quality. You shouldn´t compare other movies to Avatar. I watched Resident Evil Retribution as a sbs mkv and I think the effects are good, but not as good as those in Avatar. In generall, the aspect ratio should not affect the quality of 3D-effects (just my opinion). But I also like full screen movies . 2. The 3D-glasses from the cinema should also work, because it is the same technique (passive, polarisation) as used in the TV. Nevertheless, if it doesn´t work satisfyingly with these, you should of course try it with the official LG-glasses. This would be the first step! One problem that may occour with non-official glasses is, that the right and left glasses are put up the wrong way (the right glas should be on the left side and the left glas should be on the right side) and do not fit the polarisation foil that is put on the panel of the TV (man, hard to describe in english, hope you understand what I mean). So, use the original glasses!!! This problem may also occure, if you are watching sbs (side by side) movie files! There is an option in the "3D-settings" menu of the TV where you can invert (or swap) the left and right image. 3. No, settings like color, balance, real cinema effect and local dimming do not affect the quality of the 3D-effects. In general, picture settings depend on your own preferences. So there is no "perfect configuration", because it depends on what you like the best. 4. In my opinion the 3D-settings should be set to default. Only if you are watching from an extreme angle from the right or left, you should change the "point of view" settings. If you are sitting, more or less, right in front of your TV just keep the default settings and it should work fine (my opinion). 5. You are right. In generall the distance should not be the problem. Just if you are sitting very close to the TV (less than 2m) you can get problems with "ghosting". I hope I could help you at least a bit greetings |
