Only back wall.
Side walls do not affect Maggies. At least that is the impression I was under, I may be wrong.

If you have 2 feet from rear wall, you should be well covered.

I read a pretty detailed review of the Maggies.
The final reccomendation of the reviewer was to keep them well away from the back & side walls for the best effect-a snap of the placement was included.
A friend of mine keeps them 3' from the back wall & 2.5' away from the side wall!

Can anyone please tell me whether Marantz AVR SR5001 better than Amplifer PM7001? as from many people I heard that Marantz excels in AVRs and not Amps

nothing of that sort IMHO. Marantz two channel amps are good for their money. Between the two, its the 7001 for me.

The fact is I'm interested in C320BEE/C521BEE/Cadence Arita combo but both NAD and Cadence is not available in Chennai and further I haven't heard that.I have heard Marantz/Monior Audio combo (CD5001/PM7001/Monitor Audio RS6) and it sounds OK for me but not superb. I dont know whether to go for the NAD/Cadence combo or Marantz/MA combo.

Whats your opinion? To boldly go for NAD/Cadence or stick to the other one. I have the same musical taste as ur's (Classical and Jazz)

Marantz has AVRs that are quite decent in stereo AS COMPARED TO SIMILARLY PRICED AVRs. The stereo amps are excellent for their price and I don't think a comparison is fair.

Never buy any audio equipment un-auditioned IMHO..... howover highly it is praised by anyone. If you want to hear cadence your nearest stop would be bangalore at Jochen's.

Looks like you need to search some more....

yes Manek I have to search some more but still I don't have any time to go to Bangalore for audition I am thinking whether to buy here in chennai after auditioning it or directly buy from dealers in Bangalore/Mumbai without auditioning it.

Now I got some dealer in chennai who deals with Soundsmith products (Cambridge Audio, Dynaudio, Dali etc) but he can give only home demo. So thinking whether calling him for a home demo is worth.

ofcourse a home demo is the best. please call and get a demo in the room you wish to put your system and prefrerably in the same position as your prospective system.

If so can you suggest me some Dynaudio or Dali combinations with 640A/640C?

To be honest i dont like cambridge audio too much. Any combo is worth a home demo if its free

what do you have to loose ? You just may like it.

Dynaudio 42's or 52's(preferably) should be OK. I dont know if you can get the quads but the 12L is a fine speaker which I rate over the dynaudio 52.

Gr8 Quads are available here at Pro Musicals - Dealers for Designer Audio.

Even I heard Quad 12L but remember the amp (I think Yamaha or Marantz) but really It was the best. The track "Waltz for Romance" from Lagaan was awesome.

I even have an Idea to match (Marantz CD5001/PM7001 with Quad 12L or 21L)

But for the price of 21L (60K) I think I can get Arita with Stands (65K)...so this is the confusion

the 21L is also a very good speaker, 22L not so much IMHO.

Yesterday I auditioned KEF iQ5 speakers at ProFx. Really this speaker has good value for money. I like some aspects in this speaker even more than RS6, and for 34K this is good. I would like to go for this speaker

but the setup which I heard had Denon PMA-700 AE amplifier with some Denon CD Player. So I would like to know which will go better with iQ5

Denon PMA-700 AE or Marantz PM7001 or NAD C320BEE as I can't listen to Marantz and NAD with KEF iQ5

Anybody please give me some inputs on this.

But he is offering the whole package for 90K.

Need to know whether this is a good bargain and Denon CD Player,Amp worth for the money or not?

If this is good I am going to buy this weekend

I find it good but I can't compare it with NAD or Marantz amp. Thats why I doubt whether the setup will sound better with NAD C320BEE or Marantz PM7001 amp.

Dear Vpriyan,

If you dont mind much about big brand names I would request you to listen to Advance Acoustic electronincs (A tube buffered CD and Itegrated as well as Pre power Amplifiers). IMHO they do offer much more VFM and sound quality than most of the stuff you have been mentioning in the post. M/s Nova Audio, Mumbai is the indian distributor for Advance, if possible do give it a listen before taking a final call.

I am using their Pre and MOnoblocks with great satisfaction.

I did hear the advance coustic cdp in comparision to nad 542...NAD was superior when played with a combo of C162/272 and totem forest and vandersteen speakers...a lot more detail and much better presentation overall.

I have heard the Kef speakers with Denon electronics and they do sound decent..but that doesnt mean there is no scope for improvement.
Instead of Denon DCD700AE CD Player - 27900
Denon PMA700AE Amplifier - 28900

I would any day go for a NAD C521BEE/Marantz CD5001 : 16k
Rotel RA-05 : 35k
or
Rega Mira : 45k
