Advise to a beginner

Hello,

I am from India . As a beginner I would like to make a modest investment of about Usd 700 or INR 30,000 max on a budget but good quality speakers and amp.
This is more for listening to some good music .Movies are not a priority.

Your advise would be be helpful and appreciated.

Dear Arun,

You could try the following:

Amp - NAD 320BEE about INR 19000
Speakers - Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 ?About INR 12,000
CDP - TEAC about INR 7000

that amp is very good, the 320bee.
The spekers, wharfedale is a VFM product. I believe wharfedale will shortly launch the diamond 9 series.

Boston acoustics could also be an option.

Arun,

The NAD 320BEE is a good amplifier but its difficult to get to buy one. Be prepared to wait unless you are in Mumbai (like I am doing)

If you can increase the budget a bit, take a look at the B&W and KEF bookshelf speakers. Consider the money spent as an investment....

Dear Arun,

The choices will increase as your budget increases and so will be the confusion.

I think you should first finalize your budget and then strictly adhere to it. I myself gave in to the temptation and ended up spending thrice as much as I planned in the begining.

Thank you all ( SDhawan, Joy & Manek ) for the advise and suggestions . Appreciate it.

I 'am from Mumbai . In the meantime I have done some snooping around and figure the wharfdale speakers + NAD are a good combo. I have also seen this guy on bazeee.com who is trying to sell his Wharf Atlantic 400 Flrs . The reserve price has not been mentioned, the speakers are about two years old.I intend checking them out..... Also with Expo coing in nOv , I am looking forward to it.
