I was reading a old magazine of hifi-plus today morning. I saw a very strange letter published in the magazine..along with a equally seious reply from the editors. Apparently, Cats are very sensitive high frequency distortion and will be very agitated when they hear them. Infact a specific breed (will write the exact name tommorow) of Cat was mentioned as the best bet for this high-freq/treble test !!!!! ![]() Regards Siva. |

Think both cats and dogs feel high frequency sound (not exactly distortion) annoying and typically leave the place. - Debu |

....not quite in my case.... One of my dogs seems to love music especially opera singers...male and female. She just loves Andrea boclelli and Madame Caballe. She would sit around and pop her ears up and listen ! It does seem to relax her. My other doggie couldnt care less for the music. If I dont pay attention to her for long she would bark louder than the music and make me listen to her ![]() One of my cats tends to gravitate towards a music source and sit on it(like a TV)...whilst the other just hides in a cupboard. So its again different strokes for different folks....I guess....cant make a generalization. |

Bats cannot see. They navigate with help of ultra-high frequency sound waves they emit and hearing their echoes - something like a radar. So you could certainly use bats to test you hyper-tweaters ![]() |
One of my cats tends to gravitate towards a music source and sit on it(like a TV.
My Chennai friend's female cat sits on his amplifier and TV when they are playing. But, it's not the music. It's the warmth of the electronics. The problem is even if animals can hear damn well, how will they tell us what sounds good? A better idea - ask a school kid to accompany you to an audition. They can still hear high frequences and can talk! |

About animals.....I have noticed one thing about dogs. They can tell fake from reality very easily. We once tried playing a barking dog track through a very expensive (and so close to natural sound) kind of system. The dog didnt bat an eyelid.....one bark from a doggie on the street and all hell broke loose. ![]() Cant fool them. Manek. |

Well, I don't think we are any less than that dog. Tell me, would you start slavering at the sound of a female blowing kisses thru those expensive speakers? I dont think we would ever confuse reproduced kisses from real ones! |
