Sir, This is a Lawrence Dicky Design. They are speakers from Vivid Audio. Lawrence is the man that made 'the Nautilous' for B & W. That does not mean that the speaker will sound 'good' !!! Audio is very very personal, .... However, here I just wanted to know how our fellow forum members warmed up to its 'looks' That is all !!! |

Hi Dudes the loudspeakers are not from Vivid Audio. They are O'heocha (O-HOO-KA} from Scotland. The designer is ex-BMW, and uses airflow technology and aluminium construction he learnt in his automotive years. They probably had the best wireless speaker in the world, now discontinued. Regards Deaf. |

Sorry to digress, but I just HAD to vent my spleen about "WIRELESS Speakers" What a SHAM. They ALL need the Mains wire running to it, to provide juce. So 2 'ugly wires' carry mains or 2 ugly wires carrying the signal... the wires are there anyway ![]() Any how many of our houses 'naturally' have 2 mains outlets - one behind each speaker ? If the mains wire can snake around, so can the audio... and you will almost certainly get better sound thru wires than wireless ( though that seems to be changing now ) P.S: I did read of a wireless speaker that runs on battery, but the battery needs to be recharged ( with a wired feed ![]() |

Dear Ampnut the speaker did have a substantial battery. What I meant by best was that it had the best audio quality known for a wireless loudspeaker. Deaf. |

Hi deaf, No quarrel with you ! ![]() My point was that there REALLY is no animal such as a True 'Wereless Speaker' Its a PITY to i. pay as much or more, ii. and still get poorer sound quality, iii. despite the need for wires... ![]() Yes, your key pointer was :

Dear Ampnut, You are too dear a pal to have a quarrel with. The speaker did not rely on BS wireless technology like bluetooth, wifi etc, it had a defense level wireless technology, with a receiver atop the loudspeaker that looked like a anntena. The damn pair cost 10,000/- pounds, used top of the line Morel drivers and was encased in a chromed aluminium tower. You can still see it in the gallery of the O'heocha site. Regards Deaf. |

Hello Amp_Nut-ji That amp will output several hundreds of Class A SE power. And yes you will need 2 of them for stereo. It looks formidable but quite easy to build if you got the components, tools and skill. best of luck ![]() |

I am sorry but I don't have a link. That tube looks to be the Russian GM100. With a Pa of 1000W it should provide 150 watts in Class A even if run conservatively and maybe 300 watts if drawing grid current. The GM100 tube should be available in India. Some transmitting type tubes (such as 8240 triode) are rated at 5kw. The biggest transmitting triode I have read about is the type ML-7482 made by EIMAC and rated at 200,000 watts. It requires vapour cooling. I don't know if anybody has attempted an audio amp around it Yes I think its electron luv. Anyways, sorry for the threadjaking. |
()
That tube is on steriods ![]() |

Amp_Nut-ji PM'd. Additionally this pic specially for you. ![]() ![]() GM100 in its natural setting. This looks like a quick-n-dirty DIY transmitter built around the GM100 for ham use. Note the extreme left corner. Looks like an ECC83 or EL84 size tube. Compare it to the GM100. I also note a power triode in the right and its safe to assume its rated at at least 500watts. However, the type of wires and the casual construction style don't suggest use of very high voltage. Must be an experimental rig. It must be brave soul to punch out Morse code from the keystroker in the front ![]() [Beitrag von aks07 am 12. Dez 2007, 05:38 bearbeitet] |
