I own a Sonodyne set, a very old model ones (around 20 years old). I use an ordinary locally made speaker wires for connectin the amp to the speakers. How far am I compromising on quality of sound ? Should I change it immediately ? Which wires should I go for and where will I get it in Bangalore ? I suppose I don't have to spend much on them as the system itself is quite outdated. Anyway, I didn't know the importance of the cables before I joined this forum, Now I feel guilty that I didn't do justice to my ears and my system !!!! ![]() |

Abhi, Audio interconnects and Speaker cables are available at Pro FX, Barton Center and Cinebels - Jamo showroom, Cunningham Road. They usually stock QED, Ecosse brands etc. Since these are usually the imported variety, they are expensive. You can always invest in the audio interconnects since you can use them when you upgrade to a new system. For the speakers, you may want to invest in some good quality local cables until you decide on your upgrade path since speaker cables are specific to the speaker - impedence etc and amplifier combination. |

Just buy decent OFC 14 guage entry level speaker cable and an entry level interconnect if you have to spend on cables. I suggest save it for your upgrade and buy cables to match. manek. |

What is actually interconnect ? What is its purpose ? Also I dont have to spend on cables but yes if I am losing a lot on quality by not providing proper cables to my system then I would definitely be interested to spend some (not much) money and get my old system updated ( Anyway I am not going to throw it away). |

Abhi, Audio Interconnects are the RCA type cables with which you connect your source to the amplifier. AV Receivers have optical and digital interconnects too. Cheers |
