Speaker for Onkyo tx-nr900:Bangalore

Hi all

I am just about to purchase a Onkyo TX-NR900 receiver in Bangalore - has 7.1, nettune ethernet port etc (my home is cat6 wired for ethernet so i can stream my digital music from study to downstairs where the system will be located, and saves storage for CDs). It serves 2 zones too ! I am primarily an audiophile looking for good floor standing towers so that I do justice to the 180 watts/channel (110 RMS) of the onkyo system. I will use this for main zone 1 and live with my current old speakers for zone 2 that i will replace later.

I mainly listen to rock and (flod, purple, priest, maiden, dire straits, scorpions)hindustani classical .

People who live in Bangalore/other places in India, please comment:

- I am stunned by the very high speakers prices in Bangalore, even after converting from other currencies , it seems double or triple. Am I wrong? Is there a way to get a better deal?

- Currently only Jamo and B&W seems to be well established in Bangalore (is that not true?) and dealer recommendations are Jamo D590 (at Rs 85000!) and B&W S603 (at Rs 70,000).

- Are these 2 speakers good? Which one is better ?

- Is there anything else that I should consider apart from these two models ?

- How to get a reasonable price? Any ones knows some dealer who is phasing out old (but good) models at reasonable price?

hi,

The jamo D590 is quite good for the music you listen too. The B&W 603S3 will also work well for your application but for rock i prefer the D590. they also have a smaller D570 which is cheaper.

Pro fx in banglore sells kef. You could try and audition them.

Then there is linn proac etc at absolute phase, corrson makes their own acoustic portrait, acoustic energy should be available in banglore, mission, wharfedale, quad.
