VCD vs Audio CD !!!!

Here's a typical question which I had always in my mind but tempted to sort it myself....
When we listen to a particular track, say a typical hindi movie track from a VCD and then the same from the Audio CD, should we hear similar audio quality or there should be a difference (I expect a difference)? If it is different then can there be some instruments that are better heard on the VCD than the Audio CD ?
Please mind that I have mentioned a VCD (not pirated of course) and not a DVD.
I had a peculiar experience few days back in which I could hear some instruments played with a VCD as source which were least audible in the same track when played on a Audio CD and mp3 format....
Can it be possible that the recording engineer prirotized the instruments and their gains differently for the Audio CD and the VCD ?
Anyone of you think that this might have happened accidentally or simply impossible...you are most welcome to comment !!!!!!!!!

Consider all other sources as same (a stereo setup overall)

Also how would you compare Audio CD vs DVD both played on a Stereo setup...

now coming to DVD, the audio quality of a soundtrac k is still below par of that of an audio cd. same reason as the VCD alongwith the fact that all the other channel data also has to be recorded on to it. asi play some of my DVD(pirated but origignal print) the H/K shows the video resolution and the bit rate of the audio data stream. it is usually around 500- 800 kbps. yes it varies a lot and constantly if i might add.

just my observations with what i have so i may be wrong. however the quality of DVD will be much better than ur average MP3 format.

Sometimes it so happens that the tracks in movies are recorded in a diffrent way to suit theatre environments.
