Help needed please
I have the Techno Trend S550 PVR and needed to do a factory reset
I have forgotton though how to set up the 2 recievers
I have 2 lnbs one pointing to a UK sat and the other fro German
how do I set them up ie disque 1,2 or 1 or starburst
I am completly confused and it does not say in the handbook how to do this .... I have used starburst and I get a conflict when taping
any ideas ???

How do you connect the outputs of both LNB to the receiver? Are there separate cables from each LNB to the receiver or are both LNBs managed by a DiSEqC-Switch (2-in-1-switch)?

1st case (separate cables to the receiver):

LNB 1 --------> SAT IN 1
LNB 2 --------> SAT IN 2

Connect the 1st LNB to the SAT IN 1 connector and the 2nd LNB to the SAT IN 2 connector. Then go to the Tuner Menu and select "Individual Satellites". So the box will act as two separate receivers with all the limitations. You cannot record or watch 2 programmes from different transponders on the same satellite at the same time, as one tuner simply is connected to the "wrong" satellite. But you can record at least one program from each satellite at the same time (each tuner records a program from "his" satellite).

2nd case (LNBs connected to a DiSEqC switch):

LNB 1 ----->
LNB 2 -----> | DiSEqC | -----> SAT IN 1

SAT OUT 1 ----> SAT IN 2

Connect the cable from the DiSEqC switch to the SAT IN 1 connector und use a short loop cable to connect SAT OUT 1 with SAT IN 2. Then go to the Tuner Menu and select "Loop-Through". So the box will use SAT IN 1 to select the satellite via DiSEqC and the band and polarization. Tuner 2 can only receive the satellite and the transponders that are selected by tuner 1 (so tuner 2 is a "slave"). This has the advantage that you can record 2 programmes from different transponders on the same satellite at the same time, if both transponders are on the same block of transponders (lets say lowband vertical or highband horizontal). But you cannot record or watch programmes from both satellites at the same time, as one satellite is "switched off" by programme selection of tuner 1.

However, both is not satisfying. The best way would be to use 2 twin LNB (one for each satellite) and 2 DiSEqC switches (2-in-1) to feed both tuners with both satellites:

LNB 1a ----->
LNB 2a -----> | DiSEqC | -----> SAT IN 1

LNB 1b ----->
LNB 2b -----> | DiSEqC | -----> SAT IN 2

Then go to the Tuner Menu and select "Tuner 1&2". So you should (hopefully) have the chance to freely select programmes from both satellites with both tuners.

(I do not own the S550 so I cannot give any guarantee for the things I wrote.
