I've been using Philips Q30 Cd/DVD player for last 4 years and wish to upgrade it. My HT configuration is as follows Philips Q30 CD/DVD Player AVR Yamaha RXV 1500 Front Jamo E875 Floorstanding Center Jamo Center 8 Rear Speakers Philips (old box speakers from my previous system) Sub Polk Audio PSW505 I'm using Fibre Optic cable to carry signal between Cd/DVD player and AVR. I'd like to know if CD/DVD player has any impact on "Sound" quality. I use my system almost evenly for HT and Music. If you are planning to use the Yamaha AVR for 2-ch music, I would suggest you stick to the Philips dvd player only. It will be a waste of money. Most Philips/pioneer dvd players are pretty decent with music. You will need to upgrade to a good stereo integrated/pre-power to justify a good/resolving cd player. You could try using a good analogue interconnect between the AVR and cd player for 2-ch music. This way you can override the DAC in the AVR. It may give you better sound. |
