hi flimguy.....?
anyways
you don't need to make your own interconnects, just go and buy MX Advance Metal Chrome Connectors model MX 1109, from lamington road in mumbai, they are the best you can go out for and it just cost over a 100 rs, but if you are a brand freak, then there are cables worth lakh of rs too..... but they too don't make much of a sound diffrence for the money they ask for.
you need to know more if you think i am just kidding you can read this
http://sound.westhost.com/cables.htm
i am satisfied and well i have made my own speaker cables buying bannana plugs and a good 2.5 ofc cable , from lamington road and it costed 60 rs a meter for the wire, and 100 rs each for the glod plated plugs.
let me know what have you thought.

hi ojoi,

i absolutely agree with u and thats y i'm not going out and buying the monster cables type. but at the same time i've heard that one gets much better performance then with the normal rca wires that one gets with your dvd player.

i basically need to connect my dvd component out to my tv and my tv monitor out to my amp. what wld u suggest for these ? wld the MX Advance Metal Chrome Connectors model MX 1109 be good for this ? if so, any particular shop in lamington rd?

thnx

If you do have belden Cables in Mumbai they make the best cables. in fact many highend cos just put their own insulation and a good price markup as well..

Just search on google for DIY, Audio & interconnects and you will find a wealth of info

film guy...

cables are improtant and its only when you AB them in your environment will you know the difference.

I have seen very good cables for very decent prices at the bombay jamo shop called vivanco for your component out and audio. I use vivanco audio cables in my home along with transperent audio and VDH. All the three sound different but the much cheaper vivanco is quite a good cable. A decent cable I feel is a must. Dont know about MX advanced.

well manek and everyone
mx company is the one who exports 90% of there 100% shielded OFC cables to europe and america were probably the big companies put there brand on it.
well this inside information i have recived from one of my best freind who has a cd manufacturing unit in baruch/gujarat, and has invited me to see his and the mx factory to know the truth, he said they are an iso 9000 as well as an ec approved company,.
you know the cost of one interconnect is just 100 rs, they have only three kinds of cables in the market now all similary priced,
MX 274 - 4 pin mini din plug
MX 1109 - 2 rca/2 rca plug ---- this is what i will be using
MX 1110 - 2 rca/1 rca plug
and soon to be launched a pure optical fiber cable from them.

yes flimguy the connectors will be the best for whatever application you use, they are 100% sheilded OFC cable , 24 carat glod plated connectors, but if you have a choice of optical out and in your system then go for that.

manek where is the jamo showroom you are talking about, manek have a look at mx cables in lamington road.
arj where do you get the belden cables in mumbai.

the jamo showroom is at crossroads and at bandra.
dont know cost of component cables but the audio interconnects are between 900-1900. go there and have a look.

Wonder why these good MX cables are not widely available anywhere else ? Since it is an iso and ce certified cable company I wonder if they make PC-OCC cables as well ?

There was an mx rca cable I saw at the local electrical shop and they were horribly finished and didnt look like something I would buy ever. But you say they are well shielded gold plated RCA's. I did not see those.

My experience with interconnects and speakers cables till date is a mixed one and would like to share it with you all.

1. You need a system capable of revealing the nuance of cables
2. Try out different cables not by A-B comparison alone.
3. A-B comparison will bring out the tonal shift to light but may mislead you. Listen to your favourit song till end and try to point out the differences you noticed.
4. The whole issue of interconnect is mainly due to the existing nonstandard input and output specifications followed by manufacturers. You have to be lucky to find a good matching cable for your set of equipments.
5. At times getting a complete cable will be cheaper than soldering then on to connectors
